    ASP.NET 2.0 site

    Anyone know? :)

    Hosting a subdomain remotely.

I couldn't get around the domain already exists thing either when I tried it.. Apparently it does allow it when you create a whole new website, but not on domain aliases, or something. Either that or they changed H-Sphere since I created my own webmail subdomain..

    What will define Web 3.0?

As for micro-payments.. such systems exist, though I do not know of any based on credit cards.. but to be honest, credit cards suck anyway :) I live in the Netherlands, where credit cards are a lot less common than the US. People with a credit card are likely to be abroad regularly or they're...

    Password protected directory

Hmm, there's a Protect feature under the File Manager (webshell4) which is under the "FTP Manager" option. It might or might not be enabled though. At some point in the past, there were problems with the required ASAPI filter and it was disabled. But that was ages ago and it might have been...

    ASP.NET 2.0 site

I changed my mind :) I'd like to move an existing site to a server that supports ASP.NET 2.0.. If I disable "Web Service" on the relevant account (supposedly deleting all hosting related data) and then reenable it, would it also be on a different server? Deleting the account altogether would...

    Hosting a subdomain remotely.

Sorry, I meant a domain alias, not a server alias :) It's just above the server aliasing on the help page you linked. The domain alias to enter would be name of the A record you just added, followed by the domain name, so in this case: blog.win-site.com. Uncheck the box to create a new DNS...

    Hosting a subdomain remotely.

On the Linux site's settings, you need to add sub.somedomain.com as a server alias. It's likely it will already have an alias www.sub2.reseller.net in the settings already, just add another there :) Without this, the virtual host would not be recognized and you'd be directed to some default...

I am very upset, am I alone or is this a bigger issue for Jodo Host?

If you think MS Access is bad for websites now, Access 97 was terrible... But yeah, if you're seriously developing a website, don't use access even for the smallest of databases. It's a pain in the butt to upsize later :)

    ASP.NET 2.0 site

Usually I do all my ASP.NET 2.0 staging on work servers, but I would like to set up a ASP.NET 2.0 site on a subdomain for private use. Now, my own websites with several subdomains are all on Win5, which I'm guessing does not have ASP.NET 2.0 support. I assume I need to create a new account...

    SQL Connection String Problem

I suppose a disadvantage is that if you restart the application for any reason (upload a new version of an assembly or a file in App_Code for example), session state information is lost. That might not be much of a problem depending on your application. InProc session state also won't work...

"FTPS with TLS for connection" vs "FTPS with TLS for connection/data"

It doesn't answer your question, but.. I would suggest using SFTP instead. It's a totally different protocol and runs over SSH* (usually SSH 2) and it's starting to see more and more support on different platforms. One advantage is that it doesn't have a separate control and data connection, so...

    SQL Connection String Problem

Are you intentionally using a ASP.NET State Server instead of internal session state management or SQL Server state management? State Server is a separate piece of software that needs to be enabled as the Windows Service is set to manual start by default. See also Configure the State Service...

    DSPAM and SA question

That would explain it.. I was under the impression it was already activated for at least some servers. Oh well, doesn't hurt to be prepared. Thanks :)

    DSPAM and SA question

ok :) I've been trying to find the header, but I haven't run into it yet. Maybe you could post the actual SA rule?

    DSPAM and SA question

For the past couple of years I've always had SpamAssassin disabled on my primary domain at JodoHost. Instead all my mail passes through my local mailserver which runs my own SpamAssassin. Would I be correct to assume that any domain with SpamAssassin disabled would still have it's mail go...

    D-Spam: 50% false positives...

Newsletters often get marked as spam not only because of the content, but also due to the way that some RBLs work. People that receive legit newsletters they subscribed to get tired of receiving them, and start clicking the "spam" button in their e-mail webinterfaces instead of unsubscribing...

    No posts?

Seems to be fixed now. I was only seeing empty threads, even though the post count that was displayed on them was normal.

Hmmm, I see threads, but they have no posts in them since the forum update :/

    ASP.NET Ajax Extensions

There's nothing that needs installing really. You just put the Assembly DLL in your Bin directory, upload the proper Web.config and off you go :P At least, I didn't have a problem switching from the June Atlas release to beta 1 on my work server without installing.. My server at Jodohost is...
