Can anyone see this web site?

DNS stuff is worse than lame these days. Network-tools.com rocks. Free and much more comprehensive. FWIW, your site is not visable in the Western Pacific nor in Thailand.

    MSSQL 2005 - Data Import

I use MSSQL studio 2005 to do imports from Excel all of the time. Right click the DB, go to tasks>import and run the wizard; works like a charm. If you don't have MSSQL studio 2005, I'd be willing to bet that you can do the same thing with the free MSSQL server 2005 Express Edition.

    White list- what's the point?

Actually, I've turned off the anti-spam on all of my client's accounts due to false positives from within the respective domains, inability to recognize white list entries, marking of government email as spam and myriad other issues. Really, any anti-spam system which flags emails with a single...

MSSQL 2005 and system stored procedures

Thanks, Stephen The work around I employed is to simply make a login name that starts with any letter above "S", then kill the loading process after the procedures you've created with said login name display. Geez, what way MS thinking, anyway?

MSSQL 2005 and system stored procedures

When using Dreamweaver with MSSQL 2000, the only stored procedures that would display when defining a recordset would be those stored procedures that were created by the user whose login was in the connection string for the recordset being created. In MSSQL 2005, however, all system stored...

Different default page behavior for UNIX vs Windows?

Actually, it's poor documentation on the part of h-sphere. The values should be separated by carriage returns, NOT spaces X( Example from H-shpere (WRONG!): index.html cgi.bin about.html CORRECT EXAMPLE: index.html cgi.bin about.html I know it's relatively petty, but it's da#% irritating...

One database or many - which is better?

MSSQL is designed and optimized for high I/O; datastreams via http are far slower than internal processing provided by MSSQL (this is why we use stored procedures rather than submitting queries via http). Furthermore, proper relational design with appropriate indexing and keys will create an...

Emails not getting through to AOL

AOL requires that all mail be sent from a authenticated source. Timely enough, Alton Consulting just posted a script that includes authentication. Using this script will allow your mail to go through to AOL.

One database or many - which is better?

Multiple databases means multiple connections, which cannot help performance. Given that MSSQL server handles several hundred databases simultaneously with no problems, one large database should work just fine and will, as you noted, make maintenance much easier.

What is it like living in 1990?

Only mobile internet? How could you survive?:D The last time I lived in North America was pre-internet, and even then, I had several friends who had completely eschewed just about all technology and lived in the woods in Yurts and teepees year-round. Here in Micronesia, there are areas...
