    Convert MS Access to MS SQL

    I'd assume they just upsized the DB to SQL. Pretty easy since Access does it for you. You need to change your connection string for one. If all the tables are the same name then that should be it. If not and they are prefixed with your account name like Jodohost does then you will need to go...

    Domains for DNN Child Sites

    You set up the domian to be another alias for the main portal. And then setup the domain in DNN. I think. I know I did this but don't remember the exact steps. I do know you don't register it as a new domain under the jodohost control panel. DNN needs to handle the url rewrite.

    SQL book recommendation?

    Best bet is MSSQL Books online that comes with MSSQL. Download the free desktop version either 2005 express or MSDE and play. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sql/default.mspx http://doc.ddart.net/mssql/sql2000/html/

    .net 1.1 -> 2.0?

    So I asked in a trouble ticket if I could switch to .NET 2.0 on my own or need a ticket. The response surprised me. It said that 2.0 was not available on my server, even though it's windows. Why? 1.1 and 2.0 live fine next to each other. Then the kicker, it would cost me $10 to move to a...

    Number of DB questions

    Thanks. It would make it easier to run .net apps since they seem to be mated with MSSQL mostly.

    Which blog engine?

    I've been asking the same question to myself. I have DNN running already but the blog sucks for that. .text did go to Communityserver, it was also forked into http://subtextproject.com/ I'm leaning towards this myseslf There is also http://www.dasblog.net/ which seems cool too. Such a hard...

    communityserver

    Thats the nature of .net on a hosted environment. If there is no activity for a while the server will unload it. I know DNN comes with a keep alive page. basically makeing a request every so often to keep it loaded in memory.

    Dnn 4.0

    I may give a try to upgrade to DNN4. I have 3.2.2 running now. So it does work on jodohost?

    communityserver

    I liked it too and I wanted to use it. But just had too many problems 2 years ago. I was hoping to get the best of both worlds and have a dnn module with CS.

    Opinion of jodohost declining

    I did emailed sales apparently, with billing in the subject. The billing email is not on your contact us page. I have my account under a yahoo email address. I get all the announcements from jodohost. I looked in my bulk email folder and saw jodohost emails. Apparently some get flagged as...
