How about a Java based FTP Client? We have our own Java based FTP Client that does wonders. Now it doesn't load up like a full FTP client, but you can control it via code, uploading, downloading, and so forth.

I have been experiencing very slow webmail usage today as well. Keeps timing out, but reload enough times it eventually works. My normal diagnostics shows now problems between me and Jodo.
